Our Community

Fellowship Hall is located in the hamlet of Bedford Bills, a lovely community that is part of the Town of Bedford in Westchester, New York.

One hour north of New York City, Bedford Hills has a town park with a lake, pool and tennis courts, a library, locally owned shops, a volunteer fire company, and its own character. The Town of Bedford has an active senior center, concerts, art museums, the Bedford Playhouse, parades, and much more.

Transportation

Fellowship Hall is ideally located for transportation.

  • There is a public bus stop at the end of our property on Babbitt Road where residents can get regularly scheduled bus rides to shopping, doctors’ offices and other destinations throughout Westchester County.
  • There is a separate seniors bus that makes scheduled stops in the middle of the Fellowship Hall property by the community building that takes residents to the Town of Bedford Community House for events and activities or to senior center sponsored shopping trips.
  • Fellowship Hall is close to the Bedford Hills Train Station, from which residents can travel to New York City to go shopping, attend Broadway, music or dance performances, attend sporting events, eat in restaurants or engage in other activities.
  • Residents with cars have quick access to major highways when driving in the area, including the Saw Mill River Parkway and I-684.

Bedford Hills Memorial Park

Bedford Hills Memorial Park is a beautiful park with a lake, a swimming pool, tennis courts, platform tennis courts, a playground for children, and a picnic area. For a modest fee, Fellowship Hall residents can have access to the pool, tennis courts and paddle tennis courts. The Town of Bedford schedules various events in the park, including musical entertainment and food trucks during the summer.

Town of Bedford Activities for Seniors

The Town of Bedford values its seniors and has developed and offers a wonderful variety of programs to enrich their lives. The Town of Bedford has a Committee on Seniors, a Senior Advocate and a recently refurbished Community House located in Bedford Hills, where it holds events for its seniors. These events are administered by the Bedford Recreation and Parks Department. Bedford also maintains a Senior Hotline and publishes a bi-monthly calendar of activities and events for seniors.

Meetings/Programs

The Town of Bedford offers weekly meetings for residents age 60 and over in Bedford Hills on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Community House in Bedford Hills. Seniors are able to participate in a wide variety of activities and events.

Meetings include a variety of social activities, informational presentations, coffees, special programs and parties (such Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and Holiday Parties), movies, crafts, dance and exercise. There is a small contribution for coffee and snacks. Transportation is available to the meetings on a bus that stops at Fellowship Hall, by calling Bedford’s Senior Adults telephone line (914) 666-7203 to make reservations at least one day in advance.

Senior Trips

Senior adult trips are offered throughout the year (generally once or twice per month).  All necessary information is contained on a trip flier available at the Bedford Recreation and Parks Department.  A reasonable fee is charged for trips.  Call (914) 666-7203 for information.

Nutrition Programs

Residents may participate in the Nutrition Program in Mount Kisco at Fox Center off Carpenter Avenue.  Hot lunches are available daily, Monday through Friday, for $3.00.  Reservations must be made a day ahead by calling (914) 666-8931.

In addition, residents may participate in distributions of food by the Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry.

Home Delivered Meals

Residents who are unable to prepare hot, healthy meals for themselves and have no one to do so for them may qualify for home delivered meals. Contact Bedford’s Senior Adults Telephone Line at the Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department Office at (914) 666-7203.

Shopping

The Bedford Recreation and Parks Department bus runs weekly local shopping trips for seniors on Tuesday morning. In addition, there are Friday shopping trips to area malls, which are offered on a first come, first served, basis.  Pickup can be arranged at Fellowship Hall.  Reservations must be made a day in advance by calling (914) 666-7203.
